Inpatient Services

Patients who require comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment may enter one of Chestnut Ridge’s short-term hospitalization programs.  Each program provides the patient with a secured, closely supervised and structured, smoke-free environment to assist in stabilizing his/her psychiatric illness.

Adult inpatient programs at Chestnut Ridge Center are designed to provide intensive short-term treatment that promotes a productive return to family, job, and community for patients who are 18 years of age and older.  The multidisciplinary team evaluates the patient and designs treatment options through individual, group, and family therapy.

For adult patients who suffer from psychiatric illnesses that require more intensive clinical care, Chestnut Ridge Center offers a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. This unit offers specialization for individuals who suffer from psychiatric issues of the elderly such as depression, memory loss, anxiety, grief, and loss.  A second tract of services on this unit is geared for individuals with thought and other disorders which require intensive interventions.

An Adult Dual Diagnosis unit is offered for individuals who are chemically dependent and require medical detoxification.  Psychiatric evaluation, family, group and individual therapy are provided.  Group therapy focuses on chemical dependency education and relapse prevention. Treatment uses the disease model and 12-Step Support Groups.  Additionally, a medical component for opioid addiction is incorporated into the detoxification regime.  Specialized detoxification treatment for women who are pregnant is also available.
