Wound Management Center If you have an open sore, incision, or wound that won’t heal, WVU Healthcare’s Wound Management Center can help. Our multidisciplinary wound care team offers a comprehensive approach to healing wounds that have resisted other treatments. Our staff includes specially trained physicians, nurses, and physical therapists trained as wound care clinicians; a certified ostomy and continence nurse; a respiratory therapist trained as a hyperbaric technician; and a certified lymphedema therapist. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Wounds that won’t heal sometimes respond to hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The patient breathes 100 percent oxygen in a pressurized chamber, which delivers 20 times the usual amount of oxygen to the blood stream and to injured tissues and organs. Increasing the patient’s blood-oxygen level accelerates the wound healing process.
