Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
Don’t let circulation problems get you down
If you are unable to enjoy a full life because of circulation problems, don’t suffer any longer. WVU Healthcare offers the most advanced treatments available for diseases and conditions of the arteries and veins of the circulatory system. We provide the latest in minimally invasive procedures, and we offer non-surgical treatment for varicose and spider veins.
We’re at the forefront of innovation, using cutting-edge therapies and minimally invasive procedures to treat blocked arteries in the neck, legs, or arms and abnormally enlarged blood vessels that supply blood to the abdomen, pelvis, and legs.
Signs of possible vascular disease can include a leg or foot that becomes cool to touch, pale, blue, or numb; chest pain or shortness of breath; leg pain that does not go away; legs that are red, hot or swollen, or have sores or ulcers that don’t heal.
Our doctors are the region’s only comprehensive team of board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeons with more than 10 years of experience performing abdominal and thoracic aneurysm repair using current FDA-approved devices.
State-of-the-art surgical care
WVU Healthcare’s vascular surgery team provides state-of-the-art surgical and medical treatment for peripheral vascular disease. We are the region’s leader in advanced procedures, and offer our patients the only comprehensive team of board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeons.
Our vascular specialists perform traditional open and minimally invasive surgical procedures for treating carotid, aneurysmal, and peripheral arterial disease, including carotid endarterectomy, open aneurysm repair, and lower extremity bypass.
We also have more than 10 years of experience – the most in the region – with endovascular aneurysm repair (thoracic and abdominal) using all of the current FDA-approved devices. Other procedures we offer include:
-
angiography (carotid to tibial, including renal)
-
carotid artery angioplasty and stent placement
-
dialysis access construction and intervention
-
endovenous radiofrequency/laser closure of varicose veins
The team also oversees an Endovascular Diagnostic Suite, which has been accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories.
The Endovascular Suite, located at Ruby Memorial Hospital, offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including:
-
carotid artery duplex imaging
-
venous duplex imaging
-
visceral, renal, and peripheral arterial duplex imaging
-
physiologic testing for arterial occlusive vascular disease
-
ultrasound-guided thrombin injection for treating femoral artery false aneurysms
