Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health WVU’s Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health (IOEH) provides multi-disciplinary services to meet the health and safety needs of workers and employers in West Virginia. Care for a variety of occupational injuries and diseases (plus skill and experience in handling paperwork and communication) make the IOEH an outstanding center for treating job and environment-related medical problems. IOEH doctors staff clinics in the Physician Office Center where they provide full-spectrum occupational and environmental medicine care. These services include: workers' compensation injury and illness treatment chemical exposure and workplace illness evaluations toxic exposure evaluations referral care for complex injuries and illnesses pre-placement evaluations OHSA-mandated surveillance, including lead, respirator, asbestos, and silica certification evaluation for respiratory programs Department of Transportation (DOT/DMV) examinations fitness for duty evaluations rehabilitation services - worker education about prevention, physical therapy, upper extremity re-conditioning, and work hardening Customized programs are available for injury and illness prevention, as well as worker wellness.
