WVU Healthcare Spine Conference The Spine Conference will be held October 3, 2014, at the Morgantown Event Center, Morgantown, WV. Course Description This conference is designed to address the wide range of clinical findings associated with the care of patients with spinal conditions, including the history and physical exam, spine imaging, treatment of cervical/lumbar pain and operative indications, non-surgical treatment options, and advances in medication treatment of spine pain. Lecture format and case presentations will provide the attendee with take-home strategies for the improved evaluation and treatment of patients with these conditions. Target Audience This conference will educate physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical therapists, and chiropractors on advances in treatment of spine pain. Educational Objectives At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to: Discuss comprehensive evidence-based treatment options for the spine patient from a non-operative and operative treatment perspective, including indications, applications, and expected outcomes. Recognize the clinical algorithms to effectively diagnose and treat patients who present with back or neck pain. Discuss spinal assessment and how to evaluate referral needs. Discuss pain management strategies for patients with spine-related pain. Course Credit The West Virginia University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
