Expansion Facts

• The expansion will create 114 new licensed beds bringing WVUHospitals’ total license to 645 beds.

• The expansion will provide enhanced space for the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center and Ruby Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.

• The tower will add 15 beds to WVU Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, bringing the total number of beds to 54.

• Rosenbaum Family House and the Child Development Center (the onsite daycare facility) will grow by 20 percent.

• The expansion will include major renovations to WVU Hospitals’  clinical laboratories and a new facility for the morgue.
   
• The expansion will create about 750 new jobs (600 full-time equivalency positions) across WVU Healthcare, which includes WVU Hospitals and University Health Associates.

• The last expansion, which was initiated in 2003 and became fully operational in 2008, added 105 beds and four operating rooms.
