Rockin’ 4 the Kids to benefit cancer patients at WVU Children’s Hospital

Nov. 16 event features two musical acts

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – If Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa is rockin’ on Saturday, Nov. 16, it’s because Rockin’ 4 the Kids, a fundraiser for the Cure Kids Cancer Fund and the Johnny Koon Brain Tumor Research Fund at WVU Children’s Hospital, is in full swing.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Two musical acts – Kevin Hamric and Almost Heathens – will take the stage throughout the night. Nearly 30 vendors will be set up to sell a variety of items perfect for gift giving during the upcoming holiday season.

The event will also feature the artwork of pediatric cancer patients and their siblings chosen for this year’s Cards of Hope collection. The cards are the main funding source for the Cure Kids Cancer Fund, a project of WVU Children’s Hospital that ensures patients are provided state-of-the-art medical care, as well as psychological and social support for them and their families.

The Johnny Koon Brain Tumor Research Fund was created in memory of Johnny Koon, the son of Michele and John Koon of Morgantown, who was treated for brain cancer at WVU Children’s Hospital. He fought a five-year battle against brain tumors and had a “bring it on” attitude toward every challenge. He died in 2005, and the fund was established in his memory to help others with the same diagnosis.

Tickets for Rockin’ 4 the Kids are $25 in advance and $30 at the door for adults and $10 for children under 12. Tickets must be presented at the door for admission to the event. Admission cost includes dinner, beverages, entertainment and the chance to win prizes.

To purchase tickets for the event, call 304-598-4346 ext. 1.
