Ladies Auxiliary VFW donates nearly $6,000 to WVU lung cancer research

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Department of West Virginia, has donated more than $5,900 to the West Virginia University Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center for lung cancer research.

Grace Matz, the 2012-2013 ladies auxiliary state president, recently presented a check to Yon Rojanasakul, Ph.D., leader of the Sara Crile Allen and James Frederick Allen Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program.  

For more than two decades the organization’s West Virginia membership has supported the WVU Cancer Center and, with the latest gift, has raised nearly $137,000 for research efforts.  

Members of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW at the national level have been raising money to fund cancer research and assist members battling cancer since 1947.
