Annual Festival of Trees to benefit WVU Hospitals

Coach Holgorsen named honorary chairman for event

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Christmas is right around the corner, and in anticipation, Friends of West Virginia University Hospitals will be celebrating WVU’s entrance into the Big 12 with the annual Festival of Trees event. “A Big 12 Christmas” will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Nov. 30 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa in Morgantown.

WVU football Coach Dana Holgorsen will be this year’s honorary chairman. He will be joined at the event by the WVU football team, cheerleaders, WVU Marching Band and the Mountaineer mascot.

The Festival is a seasonal celebration that features a showcase of beautiful custom-decorated holiday trees, wreaths, mantle decorations and ornaments. Guests may purchase items for their own trees or even buy an entire tree with all the trimmings.

In correlation with this year’s theme, festival goers should be ready to sport their Gold and Blue attire. The event will feature a dance band, silent auction and gourmet tailgate fare, such as Texas tenderloin.

“Friends of WVU Hospitals really searched for its signature event,” Jane Clark, Friends Board President, said. “We are a group of volunteers just trying to give back to the community.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Comfort Fund at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. This fund helps families in temporary need of medication, transportation and lodging, as well as everyday items, during the difficult time of a cancer diagnosis.

Individual tickets are $100. For more information about sponsorship or to reserve tickets or tables, call Pam Shriver at 304-598-6094, Option 5.
