Cash Bash to benefit pediatric cancer patients

Annual event is Nov. 14

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 18th annual Cards of Hope Cash Bash and Auction will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa.

Cards of Hope are holiday greeting cards designed by West Virginia University Children’s Hospital cancer patients and survivors and their siblings during an annual summer party. The cards are the main resource for the Cure Kids Cancer Fund, a project of WVU Children’s Hospital that ensures patients are provided state-of-the-art medical care, as well as psychological and social support for them and their families.

Last year, more than 1,600 packs of cards were sold to people in 13 states. Aker Construction, Inc., is this year’s Cards of Hope title sponsor, which means that all proceeds from the sale of the cards and the Cash Bash go to the Cure Kids Cancer Fund.

This year, a collection of all-occasion cards is also available for purchase in addition to the holiday cards. These cards feature a child’s design on the outside and are blank on the inside. All of the original children’s designs will be displayed and auctioned during the Cash Bash.

The evening also includes a buffet dinner and entertainment by Ken Maisel of Phenomenon Entertainment. Cash prizes will also be given away, including a grand prize of $1,000.

In addition to the prints, other items up for bid during the live auction include a handmade quilt from the employees of the Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union and a weeklong stay at the Montana Sunrise Lodge in White Sulphur Springs, Mont.

Over the last two years, the Cards of Hope Cash Bash and Auction has raised more than $40,000 for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Cards of Hope can be ordered online at www.cardsofhope.com. Tickets to the Cash Bash and cards can also be ordered by calling 304-598-4346, ext. 2.
