WVU Children’s Hospital patients to celebrate season with fall festivities

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For students at West Virginia University, the annual Fall Fest marks the start of the new school year. To get into the spirit of the season, WVU Children’s Hospital patients and staff will hold a Fall Fest of their own.

The WVU Children’s Hospital Fall Fest will start at 10 a.m. on Oct. 30. It will include a Kohl’s Hand Washing Station, pumpkin painting, craft time, photo station, games and a movie. A face painter will also be on hand.

The event will also include a coloring contest that will kick off on Oct. 1. Pictures will be delivered to patients throughout the month and collected in advance of Fall Fest, where they will be judged.

The highlight of the Fall Fest is the patient parade. Costumed patients will parade through WVU Children’s Hospital stopping at the four nursing unit stations, staff assistants’ office, director’s office and preceptor’s office.

Anyone interested in donating craft supplies, pumpkins or new costumes (especially teen-sized costumes) to WVU Children’s Hospital can contact Katie Huggins in the Child Life program at 304-598-4365.

In addition to the Fall Fest, Spirit Halloween stores in Morgantown and Bridgeport are raising money for WVU Children’s Hospital’s Child Life Program. The Spirit of Children program will collect customer donations of cash and merchandise. All donated items and money will go directly to WVU Children’s Hospital.
