Coaches named honorary chairs of tree festival

Proceeds to benefit WVU Hospitals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Friends of WVU Hospitals has named Coach Bill Stewart and his wife, Karen, and Coach Bob Huggins and his wife, June, the honorary chairpersons for the Festival of Trees.

The holiday event – featuring a showcase of custom-decorated holiday trees, wreaths, mantle decorations and ornaments – is from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at Touchdown Terrace in Milan Puskar Stadium at Mountaineer Field.

Corporations or businesses interested in sponsoring a tree should contact Jane Clark at 304-594-0710 before Oct. 9. Students from Barbara Lingle’s WVU Interior Design classes will work with corporate and business tree sponsors to design unique custom-decorated trees.

Guests can buy ornaments or even buy a trimmed tree. A $25 ticket provides attendees with a reception, holiday harp music, shopping and a complimentary Monti bear ornament. Tickets can be purchased online at www.wvuhgift.com or by calling 304-598-4133. Proceeds benefit WVU Hospitals.

Friends is a nonprofit group dedicated to supporting and improving WVU Hospitals. Last year, 394 adult, student and junior volunteers contributed almost 30,000 volunteer hours. Since 2003, Friends has contributed more than $630,000 to support technology and patient-service initiatives, including complimentary high-speed wireless Internet services for WVU Hospital patients and visitors.

Earlier this year, Friends received the Woodburn Circle Society award – the highest honor an individual or group can receive from the WVU Foundation – for exceeding $1 million in contributions over the past decade.
