Shapiro joins staff at Cheat Lake Physicians

MORGANTOWN – Robert Shapiro, M.D., has joined the staff of WVU’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A native of Keyser, W.Va., he will see patients at WVU Cheat Lake Physicians.

Shapiro is a graduate of WVU and was named Outstanding Resident of the Year in 2002-2003. His expertise includes dealing with high-risk pregnancies, urinary incontinence, abnormal bleeding and maternal disease associated with pregnancy.

“When I did my residency here, I always thought that the faculty had a higher calling, to putting patient care first,” said Shapiro. “This is home and when I had the opportunity to join the staff, I jumped at the chance.”

Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Shapiro most recently served as an adjunct faculty member for the physician assistant program at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pa. He has held staff OB/GYN positions with Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Uniontown (Pa.) Hospital and Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, W.Va.
