Neely joins staff as certified nurse midwife

Will see patients at WVU Cheat Lake Physicians

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Kelli J. Neely has joined the staff of WVU’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a certified nurse midwife. She will be seeing patients at WVU Cheat Lake Physicians.

Neely, a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the American Association of Birth Centers, earned her master’s degree in nursing from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She specializes in benign obstetrics and gynecology and deals with low-risk pregnancies.

“I started out my career thinking I wanted to be a veterinarian,” said Neely, who earned a bachelor’s degree in animal and veterinary sciences from WVU. “But once I realized the need for qualified nurses, I decided to head back to school to pursue my bachelor of science degree in nursing.” Neely went on to earn her degree at Waynesburg College and has been at WVU since 2003, serving as a registered nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit and also working at Children’s Hospital.
