Pharmacy students offer health screenings

Rock Forge Neighborhood House event is Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –  West Virginia University second-year pharmacy students have partnered with Rock Forge Neighborhood House to hold a health fair during the organization’s open house Saturday, March 28 from 12 to 4 p.m.  Rock Forge Neighborhood House is at the Sabraton Community Center, 1837 Listravia Ave., Morgantown.

Attendees can receive several free health screenings including blood glucose, blood pressure, weight, Body Mass Index and total body fat calculations. Participants can also obtain information about quitting smoking and controlling asthma.

"Planning this event has really been an enjoyable experience," said second-year pharmacy student Jerad Bailey.  "It has been a pleasure to work with Rock Forge Neighborhood House.  Being able to help the organization get back on their feet, as well as influence the community in a positive way, with the open house has been very fulfilling."

WVU pharmacy students were partnered with Rock Forge Neighborhood House through the WVU Center for Civic Engagement as part of their Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience  curriculum.
