WVUH to Host 6th Annual Career Exploration Day

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – More than 400 students from Monongalia, Marion, Taylor and Tucker counties will be attending the 6th Annual Career Exploration Day Wednesday (Nov. 19) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The event is hosted by West Virginia University Hospitals and coordinated by WVUH Human Resources.

“This year we have more students than ever coming to take part in the event, and we are honored to have such active participation from area schools,” April Ratliff of WVUH human resources said. “We love to see students from the area interested in the medical profession, and some students leave identifying a career path.”

Various departments from WVUH will set up booths at the event.  Departments participating include Rehab Services, Physical Therapy and Radiology, as well as Nursing Services from units such as WVU Children’s Hospital, Oncology, Trauma, Emergency and Cardiac Care.

“Each year departments are encouraged to host interactive booths that will allow students to not only see the profession in action, but also let them speak with the experts and learn about what that career entails,” Annette Belcher of WVUH human resources said. “This is an excellent opportunity for WVUH professionals to share their knowledge and excitement about their chosen profession.”

Career Exploration Day will take place in the East and West lobbies of WVU Hospitals.

WVUH Human Resources encourages current WVUH employees to visit the event to explore career opportunities. The event is open to the public as well.
