WVU School of Medicine faculty member receives kudos for online scholarship review

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –  Penny Klinkhachorn, Ph.D., will receive an “Outstanding Reviewer Award,” one of 10 nationwide presented by MedEdPORTAL, the educational journal of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in partnership with American Dental Education Association. Klinkhachorn teaches in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy of the West Virginia University School of Medicine.

Klinkhachorn was nominated and selected to be a peer-reviewer of MedEdPORTAL earlier this year. The three-year-old online web site offers free published resources and teaching materials to educators in the health professions. Examples of MedEdPORTAL publications include tutorials, virtual patients, cases and lab manuals. One of MedEdPORTAL’s aims is to promote collaboration and educational scholarship across institutions.

Klinkhachorn will receive the award in November in San Antonio, Texas, during the 2008 AAMC Annual Meeting.
