Motorcycle ride to benefit WVU Children’s Hospital

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Riders for West Virginia Kids, a group of Gilmer County motorcycle enthusiasts, will host a Raffle Fun Run Saturday, Oct. 4, with proceeds to benefit West Virginia University Children’s Hospital.

A $10 entry fee is required at registration. Check-in time starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Burnsville City Hall. The event ends at 5 p.m. in downtown Glenville. Bikers also may register at Good Times Bar and Grill in Glenville Thursday and Friday from noon until 11 p.m.

The 90-mile trip consists of four stops. Riders will begin in Burnsville, stop in Clay and Arnoldsburg and end in Glenville.  At every stop, riders will receive a raffle ticket. Tickets, drawn at the end of the ride, are good for $100, t-shirts, dinner certificates, biker gear, oil and filter changes and other prizes donated by local businesses.

Robin Spencer, a rider who helped organize the event, said Riders for West Virginia Kids is an informal group that decided to put together a ride for charity, and the group chose WVU Children’s Hospital. “No one is more deserving than the kids,” he said.

In case of bad weather, the Raffle Fun Run will be rescheduled for Oct. 11.
