Friday’s Family Night movie is ‘Mr. Bean’s Holiday’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Family Night Under the Stars movie series concludes at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater Friday, Aug. 15, with a showing of “Mr. Bean’s Holiday.”

The event is sponsored by the Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners (BOPARC) and West Virginia University Hospitals.

The movie is about Mr. Bean, the nearly wordless misfit who seems to be attended by a trail of pratfalls and adventures.  Mr. Bean goes on holiday to the French Riviera and becomes ensnared in a European adventure. The film is rated G.

Admission is free. The movie begins at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.).

This showing is sponsored by WVU Hospitals’ Human Resources Department. Before the movie begins, Human Resources staff members will host fun activities including face painting. A clown will perform. Snacks and kid-friendly giveaways will be available.

“‘Family Night Under the Stars’ is a wonderful opportunity to reach out and give back to the community,” said Deveran George of the WVUH Human Resources Department. “We’re excited to participate in an event that brings families together.  It’s also a great opportunity to promote WVUH as the ‘employer of choice’ in the area. We’re always interested in recruiting the area’s best and brightest.”

“Mr. Bean’s Holiday” is the final movie in the Family Night Under the Stars series, which features a drive-in-style family movie that plays on a gigantic screen at the outdoor amphitheater. Attendance at the movies usually reaches around 500, so families are encouraged to arrive early and to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Movies are subject to rain delays and cancellations. Those announcements are made on WVAQ, WAJR and WKKW radio stations. For more information on “Family Night Under the Stars,” visit www.boparc.org.
