Area nurses invited to 2008 Nursing Symposium

WVU Hospitals to host training and education event at Touchdown Terrace

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Area nurses are invited to attend the 2008 West Virginia University Hospitals Nursing Symposium, April 30 to May 1, at the WVU Touchdown Terrace.

Nurses are invited to attend any of the more than 30 different training sessions on the topics of their choice during the event.  Topics range from suicide prevention to traumatic brain injury.  The course will enhance nurses’ knowledge of areas highlighted by the 2008 Nursing Needs Assessment. 

WVUH will provide 12.5 contact hours to nurses who complete all sessions and activities.  WVUH is approved by the West Virginia Nurses Association as an accredited continuing education provider. 

April 30 activities begin with a keynote address on legal issues in nursing at 8 a.m.  The May 1 keynote address also begins at 8 a.m. and covers the topic of nursing on the front lines. 

The cost for non WVU, HSC, or UHA employees is $60 per day.  Tuition for the full day includes lunch and a certificate of contact hour completion.
