WVU Hospitals announces ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!’ Poster Contest

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Hospitals invites area children, ages 5 to 13, to participate in a poster contest as part of the hospital’s upcoming Earth Day celebration.

WVU Hospitals has launched new initiatives to more positively impact the environment.  Those efforts will be announced to employees and the community on Earth Day, April 22. The poster contest is a way to involve area children in the celebration.

The contest theme is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!” Participants are asked to design a poster around that theme. Only one entry per person is permitted.

Entries must be submitted on a sheet of paper, card stock or poster board, no larger than 11” x 14”.  Designs can be either horizontal or vertical. Only crayons, magic markers or color pencils should be used.

To be eligible, the following information must be attached to the back of the artwork:

1 artist’s name and age

2 parent’s/guardian’s name

3 address

4 telephone number

5 e-mail address (if available)

The contest deadline is Wednesday, April 16. All artwork will become the property of WVUH.

Submissions can be mailed to Whitney Peters, WVU Hospitals, PO Box 8059, Morgantown, W.Va. 26506-8059.  They also can be dropped off on the second floor of Ruby Memorial Hospital at Hospital Administration.  The third drop-off point is at Ruby Memorial’s Volunteer Services, located on the first floor. 

The contest winners will be announced on Earth Day. There will be winners in the following age categories: 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13. Prizes will include the Discovery Channel’s “Planet Earth” series on DVD, pool passes, cool books and "Go Green" t-shirts.
