Arnold Named Director of WVU Health Sciences Library Services

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Susan Arnold has been named director of library services at the Health Sciences Library at West Virginia University.

As director, Arnold is responsible for maintaining a dynamic learning and research environment for Health Sciences faculty, staff and students, with information in both traditional and digital formats.

Arnold has been interim director since June 2004.  She oversaw and coordinated the project that moved the library into the new Learning Center in January 2007.

“The science of information has changed dramatically in this digital age,” Health Sciences Center Interim Vice President Fred Butcher, Ph.D., said.  “Susan’s leadership ensures that WVU will continue to grow to meet the needs of health sciences students and faculty.”

Arnold joined WVU in February 1988 as the clinical nutrition manager and dietetic internship director for WVU Hospitals. She received the Hospitals’ Quality Award for High Performing Team in 2001.  Last year, she was named a senior member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

Arnold earned her bachelor’s degree in dietetics from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a master’s degree in human nutrition and foods from Virginia Tech.  She earned her masters in library and information science from the University of South Carolina.
