Basket bingo benefits the Rosenbaum Family House

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 10th annual Longaberger Basket Bingo benefiting the Rosenbaum Family House at West Virginia University Hospitals will be held March 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Star City.

Tickets for the event are limited to 200 and are on sale for $20 at the Friends Gift Shop, located in the hospital’s lobby. Prizes include several different Longaberger baskets, including many retiring baskets as well as new Longaberger products.  The baskets will be filled with a variety of gift items.

“We hope to use the money raised from this event to create a day room on the second floor of Family House,” said Suzanne Likins, development specialist at Family House.  “The room will be a place where friends and family can visit and try to relax.”

A former Family House guest has also created a quilt that will be raffled off at the event.

“People are grateful to have a place to stay while their loved ones receive treatment, and they just want to give back,” Likins said.

Since opening in 1999, more than 6,500 families from all 50 states and 15 foreign countries have called the Rosenbaum Family House their “home away from home.”

The Family House provides comfortable lodging and support services to adult patients and their families who come to WVU Hospitals from more than 50 miles away.  The Family House setting allows guests to focus their attention on helping their loved one heal instead of worrying about where they will stay at night and how much it will cost.
