Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Hosts Open House

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, part of the West Virginia University Center on Aging, is hosting an open house celebration Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 2:30-5 p.m. in the Community Room at the Mountaineer Mall.

The Learning Institute is a membership organization open to anyone 50 and older.  It provides educational, recreational, volunteer and social opportunities through day and evening courses, seminars and field trips.

The open house will highlight yhr Institute’s upcoming winter courses. Twenty-two classes are planned on a wide variety of topics such as digital camera operation, geology, arts appreciation and current medical challenges. Course instructors will be available to talk with visitors, and there will be a T’ai Chi demonstration and live music during the open house.

There are currently 344 members in the Learning Institute and it recently received a $100,000 grant for its programs as a result of increasing membership.
