Chestnut Ridge Hospital Awards Grants

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Chestnut Ridge Hospital, the behavioral medicine treatment center of West Virginia University Hospitals, recently awarded grants to 17 non-profit groups serving north-central West Virginia who work toward enhancing the well-being of children, adults, and families.

Hospital officials presented the grant awards, which range from $150-$490, to the agencies during a noon luncheon today in the Chestnut Ridge Hospital Conference Room.

Through its Grassroots Grant Program, Chestnut Ridge Hospital financially supports groups that make a significant difference in their communities.

This year’s recipients of awards and their projects include:

After School for All Coalition – to fund the “Lights on After School” project

Alzheimer’s Association – to create Alzheimer’s magnets and prescription pads to identify the Hotline Phone Number

Center for Excellence in Disabilities – for personal writing publishing

Compeer of Monongalia County – to provide books for the reading club

Marion County Family Resource Network – to fund the middle school teen institute

Mental Health Association of Morgantown – to purchase art supplies for the Friendship Room

Milan Puskar Health Right – to purchase client educational materials

Monongalia County Family Resource Network – to fund “Family Night at Krepps”

Mon Valley Homeless Initiative – for the loan/grant fund                                                                                                          

Rock Forge Neighborhood House – to support the Junior Volunteer Program

Stepping Stones – to fund uniforms for their Dance Team

Sundale Nursing Home – to purchase a portable DVD player for patients to borrow for their rooms

Try-Again Homes – for recruitment of foster parents

United Way Volunteer Action Center – to fund the Mon County Intergenerational Picnic

Unity House Tenant’s Association – to purchase craft supplies

Valley Healthcare System – to purchase clinical materials

West Virginia Family Grief Centerto fund the re-location of its facility

Chestnut Ridge Hospital is a 70-bed psychiatric and chemical dependency facility staffed by WVU psychiatrists, psychologists and other professionals. It offers comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and consultation services to adults and adolescents suffering from various psychiatric disorders.
