Golf Tournament to Benefit WVU Children’s Hospital

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The annual Mountain Loggers Cooperative Association golf tournament will be held Friday, June 8, at Bel Meadow Country Club in Mt. Claire, W. Va. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit West Virginia University Children’s Hospital.

Since 2001, the Mountain Loggers Group golf tournament has raised over $50,000 for WVU Children’s Hospital.  “This is a fun event,” said Cheryl Jones, director of WVU Children’s Hospital.  “Not only does it raise money for our patients, but it allows hospital employees to get to know the Mountain Loggers Cooperative Association members.  We are grateful to have this opportunity to spend time with one of our most dedicated sponsors.”

The Mountain Loggers Cooperative Association is a non-profit organization of loggers, foresters, sawmills and other forestry-related businesses in West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. The Mountain Loggers Cooperative Association has sponsored Log-A-Load for Kids since 1996 and has raised nearly half-a-million-dollars for WVU Children’s Hospital.   Funds are raised through their annual golf tournament, log auction, elimination dinner, and various other fundraisers.

Each year over 6,600 patients are admitted to WVU Children’s Hospital for the treatment of every imaginable injury and illness from cuts and broken bones to cancer and cardiac disorders.  These patients come from every county in West Virginia as well as the surrounding states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio.
