WVU Doctor to be Featured on ABC Webcast
Julian Bailes, MD, to discuss steroids in sports
 

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Julian Bailes, M.D., chair of West Virginia University’s Department of Neurosurgery, is scheduled to appear on the “Healthy Life” segment of the ABC News website Thursday to discuss steroid use among athletes.

The live webcast will be available at abcnews.go.com/health at 10:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) May 17.

Dr. Bailes is co-author of “When Winning Costs Too Much: Steroids, Supplements and Scandal in Today’s Sports,” a comprehensive analysis of the rise in steroids and supplement abuse at all levels of sport. Bailes wrote the book with John McCloskey, a senior editor in the sports department at the Houston Chronicle.

Bailes is a consultant to the National Football League Players Association and is a former NFL team physician. He was recently invited by Commissioner Roger Goodell to speak with doctors and athletic trainers from all 32 NFL teams at a special meeting on football concussions in June.
