WVU Medical Center Pharmacy Offers Osteoporosis Screenings

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The Medical Center Pharmacy, located on the first floor of the West Virginia University Physician Office center, is offering osteoporosis screenings, Thursday, March 15, from 1 – 3:30 p.m.

Appointments will be scheduled every 10 minutes. The charge for the test is $10. Interested patients are asked to call the pharmacy at (304) 598-4848 to schedule an appointment.

Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks. These broken bones, occur typically in the hip, spine, and wrist.

While women are four times more likely than men to develop the disease, men also suffer from osteoporosis.

Proceeds will support the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center's CASSIE Fund, which provides breast imaging services to uninsured or underinsured women who don't qualify for state or federally-funded programs.
