Basket Bingo to Benefit Rosenbaum Family House

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The ninth annual Longaberger Basket Bingo event to benefit the Rosenbaum Family House is scheduled for Sunday, March 25, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Star City.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with the games beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and are available in the Friends Gift Shop, while supplies last. Only 200 tickets are being sold.

Players will have the opportunity to win Longaberger baskets and fun totes filled with themed contents. Twenty bingo games will be played

A special Mountaineer basket will be raffled this year. This retired 2006 Longaberger basket is one of a kind and has been autographed by its creators. Specially woven and customized with West Virginia University football and basketball emblems, the basket will include "Monti," the Mountaineer Gund bear, as well as an autographed Longaberger book and autographed Mountaineer items.

Tickets for the Mountaineer Raffle  basket are also available at the Gift Shop. The drawing will take place at the bingo event.

Proceeds benefit the Rosenbaum Family House, which offers a home-away-from-home environment for adult patients and their families receiving extended treatment at WVU Hospitals and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.

The four-story building is located on the WVU Health Sciences Center campus and connects directly into Ruby Memorial Hospital for easy access to medical care. Its 26 hotel-style guest rooms and laundry facilities provide the privacy and conveniences of home. Two common kitchen areas are fully equipped with appliances and cooking and eating utensils. Lounges provide a comfortable relaxation space with access to books, puzzles, videos, and games for family enjoyment.

Rosenbaum Family House offers programs designed to provide spiritual and emotional support. For many families facing a medical crisis, this is as important as having an affordable place to stay. More than 30 volunteers and community organizations offer meals, support groups, prayer services, music therapy and other activities that make Rosenbaum Family House a home away from home.

Since opening in 1999, Family House has served more than 5,600 families in need from all over the region and state.
