WVU Children’s Hospital to Host Annual Gala

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Children’s Hospital will host its annual Valentine’s gala Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown.   This year’s gala, “Club Motown,” marks the fourth anniversary of the event, which has raised over $70,000 for the hospital each year. More than 45 area business and individuals have pledged their sponsorship to “Club Motown” and over 500 guests are expected at the black-tie event.

“We are always amazed by the community’s response to this event every year,” said Peggy Myers-Smith, the manager of development programs at WVUCH, “and this year was no different. The support from businesses and individuals through Morgantown and the surrounding area is truly overwhelming.”

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will consist of a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, entertainment by The Temptations Review with Dennis Edwards, and dancing to the Bobby Nicholas Band. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on glamorous items during silent and live auctions. Auction items were donated by area businesses.

“It is a wonderful event.” said Myers-Smith.  “An event of this magnitude is exactly what Morgantown residents crave. With the help of our generous sponsors and guests, WVU Children’s Hospital has proven that you don’t have to leave Morgantown to experience an elegant evening.”

Proceeds from the gala directly benefit WVU Children’s Hospital.

“Club Motown” is currently sold out.  Information regarding the 2008 gala will be announced at a later date.
