Community Medicine, WVUH to Hold Health Fair at Riverside

MORGANTOWN, WV – West Virginia University Hospitals has joined forces with the WVU Department of Community Medicine to hold a health fair for the students at Riverside Elementary on Monday, Nov. 6, from 8-10:30 a.m. at the school.

The fair will include educational sessions on the following topics: nutrition, helmet safety, first aid, “Dance Dance Revolution,” medication safety, oral health and stranger danger.

About 200 students – head start through fifth grade – will rotate through each 20-minute session, and each topic will be adapted to the different grade levels.

The sessions will be conducted by students pursuing a master’s degree in public health in the WVU Department of Community Medicine. The students are members of WVU’s Community Medicine Student Association. The association’s faculty advisor is Ruth Kershner, EdD, RN, CHES.
