Log-A-Load Auction Set for October 5

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Mountain Loggers Group will hold their annual Ted Harriman Memorial Log-A-Load for Kids Auction on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Newlon’s International Truck Sales in Elkins, W.Va. The log auction is held each year in conjunction with the Mountain State Forest Festival.

Several truckloads of hardwood saw logs will be auctioned to sawmill owners and log yard operators during the event. The annual auction proceeds go to West Virginia University Children’s Hospital – a 108-bed facility located within Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Each year, more than 6,600 infants and children from West Virginia and surrounding states are treated at WVU Children’s Hospital.

The Mountain Loggers Group is a non-profit organization of loggers, foresters, sawmills and other forestry-related businesses in West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. The Mountain Loggers Group has sponsored Log-A-Load for Kids since 1996 and has raised nearly half-a-million-dollars for WVU Children’s Hospital. The annual log auction is the most successful fundraiser, bringing in over $100,000 last year alone.

“The log auction demonstrates the Mountain Loggers Group commitment to WVU Children’s Hospital. Many hours of hard work and manpower go into making it a success year after year,” says Peggy Myers-Smith, WVU Children’s Hospital development specialist.  “We always look forward to this event and are very appreciative of everyone that participates in this unique fundraiser.”
