Poker Run to Benefit Rosenbaum Family House

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The Rosenbaum Family House Poker Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 at noon. The run starts in the upper parking lot at Ruby Memorial Hospital and will conclude at the Bobtown Rod and Gun Club in Bobtown, Pa.

Registration starts at 10 a.m.  Cost is $10 for drivers and $5 for riders.

At the last stop in Bobtown, there will be music, a magic show, a silent auction, prizes and homemade food items.

Proceeds from the run benefit the Rosenbaum Family House, which offers a home-away-from-home environment for adult patients and their families receiving extended treatment at West Virginia University Hospitals and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.

The four-story building is located on the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center campus and connects directly into Ruby Memorial Hospital for easy access to medical care. Its 26 hotel-style guest rooms and laundry facilities provide the privacy and conveniences of home. Two common kitchen areas are fully equipped with appliances and cooking and eating utensils. Lounges provide a comfortable relaxation space with access to books, puzzles, videos, and games for family enjoyment.

Rosenbaum Family House offers programs designed to provide spiritual and emotional support. For many families facing a medical crisis, this is as important as having an affordable place to stay. More than 30 volunteers and community organizations offer meals, support groups, prayer services, music therapy and other activities that make Rosenbaum Family House a home away from home.

Since opening in 1999, Family House has served more than 5,600 families in need from all over the region and state.
