WVU Acquires Surgical Robot

Press conference to introduce the da Vinci surgical robot, a new device that assists WVU surgeons in urology and gastroenterology procedures

WHEN:         11 a.m., Thursday, June 8

WHERE:       Ruby Memorial Hospital Surgical Suite

WHO:             David McFadden, M.D., Chair, WVU Department of Surgery

Hesam Mohseni, M.D., WVU Associate Professor of Urology

WVU Hospitals is the first hospital in West Virginia to acquire the da Vinci surgical robot to assist surgeons in prostate and other operations. While it requires the hands of a skilled surgeon, the da Vinci surgical robot can improve even the best surgeon’s outcomes. Robotic surgery uses tiny surgical openings, magnification and three-dimensional imaging to make surgery more precise.

All media who attend the press conference must be escorted into the hospital’s surgical suite. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Stacy Wise at 293-1413.
