Local Chapter’s First Meeting Scheduled for May 9

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –Area nursing professionals and students are invited to the first meeting of the newly formed West Virginia Chapter of the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses (AMSN) at 5:30 p.m., May 9, in Conference Room 7A65 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

In addition to becoming acquainted with one another and discussing chapter business, an educational presentation, “Providing Palliative/Comfort Care in the Acute Care Setting,” which provides 1.2 contact hours, will be offered free of charge.

AMSN is the only national professional nursing specialty organization dedicated to adult health/medical surgical nurses. AMSN promotes medical surgical nursing as a specialty.

Membership in AMSN is open to RNs, LPNs and nursing students. Those interested in joining AMSN can obtain a membership application by calling Traci Ashcraft, RN, BC, president of the AMSN West Virginia Chapter, at 598-4000, ext. 75578, or by visiting www.medsurgnurse.org.
