Neely is Leader of University Health Associates

Physician has been interim chief for six months


 MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –Jeffrey Neely, M.D., became president and chief executive officer of University Health Associates on Jan. 1. His appointment was approved by the organization’s board of directors late in December.

“Dr. Neely has served with distinction as interim president and CEO for the past six months,” said John Prescott, M.D., dean of the School of Medicine at West Virginia University. “During the period of his leadership, we have continued our recent upward trend in UHA finances and services to the people of West Virginia.”

Dr. Prescott also announced that he has appointed Neely as associate dean for clinical services in the School of Medicine.

University Health Associates provides financial services, office space and professional support for the University’s 425 physicians and dentists, and provides considerable financial support to the schools of Medicine and Dentistry at WVU. It is one of West Virginia’s largest not-for-profit corporations, and employs more than 900 people, mostly in Morgantown.

Neely served as chair of the UHA Board of Directors from 2001 to 2004. He was also medical director of WVU's telemedicine system, Mountaineer Doctor Television. He is a 1979 graduate of the WVU School of Medicine, and completed postgraduate studies at the Medical University of South Carolina. He joined the WVU faculty in 1983 and is board certified in internal medicine.
