WVU Hospitals Open House is Nov. 22

Guided tours of new facilities available 1-5 p.m.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –  West Virginia University Hospitals will hold an Open House from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, to allow anyone who is interested to tour the new operating rooms, intensive care units and other facilities recently constructed as part of the hospital’s $75 million expansion project.

Guided tours of the Ruby Memorial Hospital’s new areas will be available every 10 to 15 minutes, and staff from the new units will be on hand to explain how they will function.

Anyone interested in a career with WVU Hospitals is encouraged to attend the open house and bring a resume – human resources staff will be present to discuss job opportunities for medical professionals and support staff. The hospital is expected to add many new employees over the next several months as the new areas are staffed and brought into use.

The expansion project included the construction of an eight-story tower at the northeast corner of the hospital, behind the Rosenbaum Family House, and the expansion of several of the upper floors of the original 1988 structure. The units opening in November and December include the expanded inpatient surgery area on the fifth floor, the surgical intensive care unit (SICU), the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and skilled nursing unit.

WVU Hospitals is one of West Virginia’s largest employers, with more than 3,600 employees, including more than 1,000 nurses. It has been named among the top places to work in the United States by both the AARP and “Working Mother” magazine.
