WVU to Host Job Fair for Health Professionals Nov. 4

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Future health care professionals from around the state are invited to a job fair from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in the John E. Jones Conference Center at the West Virginia University Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown.

Thirty-seven organizations are registered to exhibit and will be recruiting health professionals for more than 45 institutions in West Virginia.

This is the third annual job fair and is open to WVU medical residents statewide, as well as residents from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and Marshall University. It is also open to WVU students in all health disciplines, former students completing residency training in surrounding states and health care workers throughout the state.

“Our goal is to expose the residents and students to West Virginia communities and health care sites that need health care providers and are interested in recruiting them,” said Elaine Mason, director of WVU Health Sciences Placement Service. “We are pleased that there will be so many sites here under one roof to meet with our trainees.

“We are encouraging residents and students to bring updated résumés and CVs to present to recruiters so they can begin their job search right there at the job fair,” Mason said.

Representatives from the WV Division of Recruitment in Charleston will be available to answer questions about loan repayment, financial incentives and J-1 Visa waivers.

The fair is presented by the WVU Health Sciences Placement Service and WVU Office of Graduate Medical Education.

The WVU Health Sciences Placement Service was created in 1998 to help WVU medical students, residents in a WVU (or affiliated) residency program, and alumni of the WVU School of Medicine or a residency program who are considering working in West Virginia when training is complete. It offers career planning guidance, helps those seeking a position in West Virginia and help in seeking financial incentives.  The Placement Service also helps the West Virginia health care community to recruit physicians from WVU training programs.
