WVU, State Agencies to Sign $24 Million Economic Development Pact

WHAT:      

Signing of the final paperwork to complete the $24.4 million funding package announced in Nov. 2004 for WVU Health Sciences research expansion.

West Virginia Economic Development Authority

West Virginia Housing Development Fund

WHY: 

WVU is developing strong research capabilities in a number of focused areas of health and biosciences, including neurosciences, cancer and heart disease. The funds provided by these agencies will allow the University to build infrastructure and speed the recruitment of top researchers. Former Gov. Bob Wise announced the package in 2004; Gov. Joe Manchin, chair of the Infrastructure Council, re-affirmed the state’s commitment to the project.
