Rockefellers to Host Neurosciences Gala

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Senator and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller IV will host the Annual Gala of the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute June 25 at the Charleston Embassy Suites hotel.

John Beilein, coach of West Virginia University’s basketball team, will be the guest speaker. Beilein led the Mountaineers to their best NCAA tournament finish in a generation this year.

The black-tie fundraiser provides important support to research at the Rockefeller Institute. Its scientists will soon be housed in a $30 million laboratory being constructed on the WVU campus in Morgantown.

"We are building an extraordinary research institute with a mission of tremendous importance: defeating Alzheimer's and other neurological diseases," Senator Rockefeller said. "The Gala is a celebration of hope for all of us who believe we can build a brighter

future for those who suffer neurological disorders, and that we can do it right here in West Virginia."

Robert M. D’Alessandri. M.D., president of the Institute, said Beilein’s appearance is part of an outpouring of support West Virginians have placed in the venture. “People from every corner of the state have joined together to support this research, because Alzheimer’s disease affects people everywhere.”

The event will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 and dancing into the evening. For information or tickets, please call BRNI at (304) 293-4466 before June 10.
