WVUH Takes Part in ‘Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – On Thursday, April 28, West Virginia University Hospitals will participate in "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.”

Approximately 30 children, ages 11 to 17, will participate in a full morning of activities, ranging from learning the Heimlich maneuver and how to set up a website, to touring Flight Services and seeing the helicopter. Tours of the Radiology Department and Rehab Services are also planned.

According to Annette VanKirk, chair of the WVUH Employee Activities Committee, “Bring Your Child to Work Day” is a great opportunity for children and parents alike. “The purpose of this event is to introduce school children, ages 11 to 17, to the vital public services that their parents provide in support of the WVUH mission and to encourage future careers in healthcare,” VanKirk added. “The program will include many educational activities, including hands-on workshops, tours, and demonstrations.”

The hospital has been participating in the nationwide event for more than 15 years.
