Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is breast cancer awareness month. WVU Healthcare’s Betty Puskar Breast Care Center (BPBCC) is leading the fight against breast cancer in West Virginia.
Several events are planned to help build awareness and raise funds to combat breast cancer.
Saturday, 10/15 – Make Strides to End Breast Cancer – 5K Walk

Monday, 10/7 – 14 Annual Betty Puskar Breast Cancer Fashion Show

Friday, 10/21 – 21st Annual Fall Cancer Conference

Monday, 10/24 – Free Clinical Breast Exams
4 – 8 p.m. Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center Clinic. Advance registration is required for the clinical breast exams at the Cancer Center. Call Pam Foley at 304-598-4500 to register.
Friday, 10/28 – 1st Annual Breast Cancer Research Program Retreat
8 a.m. Wesvaco Natural Resource Center
Bonnie’s Bus Mobile Mammography Program will also be making stops around the state through October. Bonnie's Bus is a mobile mammography unit that travels to sites across West Virginia, offering on-site breast cancer screening in a comfortable, convenient environment. Check the schedule to see where Bonnie Bus will be visiting this month.
The Betty Puskar Breast Care Center is recognized for being committed to providing the highest level of quality breast care. WVU Healthcare’s approach to breast care and breast cancer includes a wide range of services from screening mammograms and minimally invasive biopsy techniques to breast conserving surgery, genetic evaluation, and high-risk management. The Breast Care Program at WVU is fully accredited through the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, having fulfilled and even exceeded the standards set by the NAPBC.
