RN Refresher Program
This program is designed for Registered Nurses with a current unencumbered nursing license in the state of West Virginia, who has been away from the field of nursing for five or more years, to refresh their skills.
This program is not a reinstatement program, which is required in the event an RN has let the nursing license expire or is under disciplinary action.
TO BE ELIGIBLE, THE LICENSE MUST BE UNENCUMBERED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.
This is a flexible, self paced program designed on an individual basis with didactic and clinical instruction incorporated. The focus will be basic medical surgical nursing. Participants may take classes offered through the WVUH Center for Education and Organizational Development or complete online courses as deemed appropriate for participant. Clinical experiences will occur at West Virginia University Hospitals with an RN mentor and the time frame will be based on the individual needs of the participant. Online physical assessment and pharmacology courses must be completed prior to starting the clinical portion of the program. The program must be complete within six (6) months.

Current immunizations-will be provided by WVUH, if needed

Before Acceptance into Program

Completion of Pre-Program Physical-will be provided by WVUH

Completion of Criminal background check- will be provided by WVUH

Cost
Cost of this program will be based on the individual need of the individual and generally range from $75 per 8 hour day for clinical instruction to $110 for 12 hour day of clinical instruction. Workshop days will range from $35 for a 4 hour workshop day to $70 for an 8 hour workshop day.
